The Return of Joe Bob
« on: July 28, 2018, 11:55:20 pm »
So with next to no publicity and on a 5th rate streaming service Joe Bob Briggs did a one shot 24 hour marathon on shudder that was so popular it crashed their servers.  I don't know about you guys, but I didn't hear about it until after the fact.  Thankfully shudder has broken up the whole thing into convenient "episodes" for everyone to watch at their leisure.  For those of you familiar with Joe Bob's previous shows on TNT and Showtime, which were really the same show, yup he's back in full form.  Same rambling stories, same commercial cut-ins, the same great show.  For those of you not familiar with his previous work, you are to be pitied and I'm sorry for that.

I'm still the same insomniac I was when I watched Monstervision back in the day, but sadly I now have the stamina of an old man.  I've only made it through three episodes over the past few days.  I hope to finish it up before my trial ends, but if not, I'm paying for this one.  Now given more freedom on what films to pick, he's leaning more towards the obscure this time with lots of 70's and 80's sleepers.

They've already announced that he'll be coming back thanks to popular demand.  Hopefully his next marathon will be on their parent network, which is an actual tv network, AMC.

Anyway, you should all watch.  Plenty of blood, beasts and breasts, a new mail girl, some insightful political commentary and a special award for the two gallons of Just for Men they dumped on Joe Bob's head.   Check it out, four stars.

Funny. My dad liked watching him on Saturday night Drive-In Theatre on The Movie Channel. Those old days.

The dude is the coolest.
Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats.

In the days before IMDB, my dad was convinced that Joe Bob played the guy in 5th Element that was actually played by Gary Oldman.  My family believed this for years.

He did play the employee fired by Robert De Niro in Casino though.

I thought Joe Bob was about as funny as the movies he showed. I had to leave the room on Saturday nights. My dad has a dry sense of humor........
