Ebay Stupidity (humor?)

(1/8) > >>

Raleigh:
I'm sure everyone has some stories especially if you sell a lot.  Here is my most recent experience with stupidity:

I sold a Craftsman 19.2 V Reciprocating Saw, auction ended May-26-11 18:55:17 PDT, auction stated shipping was $14 and would ship within 2 days of payment.

Payment made immediately: May 26, 2011 18:58:18 PDT

1st message received May 27, 2011 at 7:28 PM subject:Where is my item?

"Why didnt my item ship today?"

I responded with:
"As listed under shipping: "Will usually ship within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment". I work full time and don't have time to go to the post office everyday for items that do not fit into my mailbox. I was planning to drop it off at the post office tomorrow but would be more than happy to refund your payment if you are unhappy that it was not shipped today."

Buyer responded: "Just ship my order"

Shipped it first thing on Saturday May 28th, really felt like cancelling order as I figured the buyer was going to be a d-bag but figured since I received my first negative feedback after 11 years a few months ago I don't really care if someone negs me now.

Package was delived today May 31st and:

"$14 is an over charge for shipping on a medium flat rate box isnt it? Thats MFB is less than $11, and I paid a fair price for the saw."

My Response:
"The price for shipping was listed prior to you bidding, the shipping fee is perfectly reasonable for shipping a saw and I would suspect you thought as much when you made your bid. Have a great day."

Buyer:
"I sell a ton of stuff on E Bay, I only mentioned this because most sellers send their items the day they are paid for, and usually only ad .50 cents to $1.00 for handling."

I couldn't believe that the shipping date was even brought up since it was delivered today so I responded:
"You received it today. The post office was closed on Monday due to the holliday. When do you think you would have recieved it had I shipped it on Friday.... Yup you guessed it, today! In the auction it stated that it would be shipped within 2 days and it listed the shipping price. You obviously did not read or comprehend that, you also feel the need to complain about when I shipped it even though you are recieving it the same time as you would have if I shipped it out immediately. Please tell me you are trolling me, if not I don't know what to tell you."

Maybe some enlightenment form the buyer, I doubt it:
Buyer: "Wow, dont respond to this e mail, thanks and have a great day!"

Waiting on negative feedback but I would suspect that they will wait a few weeks  so they can complain about shipping time.  And not suprising it's an AOL email

Unrelated, the people that are the worst are the people that try and give you unsolicited advice, usually I just delete it but one day I was in a mood and responded, see attached:

heh CL and Ebay are both such great comic relief.

smalltownguy:
Heh. Thanks for the laugh, I needed that. :)

Raleigh, you just hit upon why I stopped selling on eBay (along with the fees).  Don't get me wrong, most people are fine to deal with - but it's the occasional jerk that makes you wish you never bothered.  I had one guy freak out because of a stray mark on a CD inner-sleeve.  I understand some people are anal about such things (especially collectors), but it sold for so little (and it was not an out-of-print CD), why even bother?

At least you got your money.  If he leaves you negative, just leave a response to his complaint.   I think most buyers know there are people you just can't satisfy and a couple of negatives/neutrals on a seller's record are acceptable.

That was some great comedic relief! Thanks! :applaud:
