32" CRT Monitor for Vertical Cab?
<< < (4/5) > >>
RyoriNoTetsujin:
32" is not too big... but your cab design is absolutely key, and you have to have the space for it. It is going to be significantly larger than most cabs.

That said, I had that same monitor model in my first cab (http://quarterheaven.livejournal.com/) and if I were you I wouldn't bother attempting vertical orientation.  Vert games looked great on that monitor, and were definitely big enough to be playable (I don't remember the exact measure, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 22-25" vertical monitor equivalent.)  I wouldn't even recommend removing the outer shell unless you're a really good metal-worker and you can build a custom framework to handle the weight.  At a legitimate 120+ lbs by itself, that tube is a beast.

But hey, if you REALLY LOVE vert games, go for it!

(And if you're in the NYC area and decide you don't want it... I'd love to take that off your hands! Keep me in mind. I miss my old cab.)  ;D

umm no.. every vertical candy has a 27" (but they call it a 29" cuz I think they measure all the way out to the side of the tube, outside the visible screen area) monitor. And they are ideal for those types of games.

Exactly. In fact when I see people tating their 16" monitors and playing bullet hell shooters on it I wonder how they can do so well because everything is so tiny. Candy cabs have the perfect screen size at 27 inches.

29 inch vertikal gaming on candy cabs suck compared to a kickass 25 inch candy . no matter if its vga or 15 k , a crappy weiya , samsung or a highly praised nanao screen .
