Issue with left/right using GGG trackball booster kit
« on: May 26, 2011, 05:41:15 am »
First I'll say that this could very likely be the x-axis encoder.

The kit disc works astoundingly on the y axis; it will move the entire height of the screen in one finger travel. And the original disc is just fine on the x axis....it just doesn't have the resolution of the kit disc.

But with the booster kit disc on the x axis, the mouse arrow moves only in small judders. If I put the encoder a little closer or farther, it hardly reads.

This is a Happ trackball

Does anyone have any ideas or advice?

Make sure the malfunctioning l/r wheel is mounted tightly.   Swap encoder boards if you have a happ tb with the same size encoder boards. If you have one with the built in usb interface the boards are different sizes so you cannot swap them.

The booster kit really isn't intended for the HAPP trackballs.  That being said, you may be able to get it to work by raising or lowering the optical PCB in the slot.  Once you find the sweet spot, use a drop or two of hot melt to hold it there.

Correct, they are not.

I did fiddle around by hand with height and distance, but it usually got worse. Ah well, just a few dollars.
