Good to know - tried Win7/64b last night on my cab at 800x600; after the launch screen, I got nothing.  I'll try upping the res.

thx

I was just playing around with this today.  It's not a perfect solution, but you could use a VBScript file to launch it.   I have a .vbs file with this code in it:

--- Code: ---Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
WshShell.Run "C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\SMBX\smbx.exe", 1
WScript.Sleep 200
WshShell.SendKeys " "
--- End code ---

You will see that first screen flash still, very briefly, but it should launch the game.      I think that launching via this method may cause some issues with LedBlinky, if you use that, and intend to light up some controls though.   But it's a start.  You should be able to add it to a front end that way, though I haven't fully tested it yet.

This whole "only over 800x600" resolution is a problem though.   The rest of my cab and all the software is configured for 800x600...

Tried upping res to 1024x768, Win7/64b, using TV

Game worked fine.  However, it started in a window that looked ~800x600 :)  The "full-screen" mode made it full-screen, but didn't change the game's resolution, leaving a big unused area.  In windowed mode, maximizing the window made it do a real full-screen.  Fortunately, controls are configurable, so it should work fine on most cabs.

Now, just need a launch script which can flip resolution prior to starting the game  ;D  That, or fix the game to run in lower resolutions.

After seeing this thread I downloaded Super Mario X. I finally played it today and it is a BLAST. I just played it on my computer with an old Logitech controller.

I can't believe that a game like this was put together by fans. It is so much fun, especially if you are a huge fan of the Super Mario Series. AMAZING!!!
