Has anyone had success in doing so? The analog happ ones are WAY too expensive ($180-300) so I was thinking about getting this

And attempting to mount it.

Depending on how smooth your control panel top is, another option is a more temporary solution such as this:

The benefit aside from cost is that you can pull it out only when needed to avoid cluttering up your panel with a permanent mount.

Thanks

Do you have one of those? How sturdy is it?

I have the logitech stick you showed.  I have mounted it on top of the CP before and it works well.  I drilled some holes into the underside of the plastic "legs" and screwed machine screws up into those from below the panel.  i was going to recess it but it wasn't worth the trouble to rout it out and only get about 3/8" more depth, routing into a 3/4" panel top.

I like the stick a lot, although in games that can use the rudder/twist (my example is starwars x wing alliance on PC) it is too easy/sensitive to twist so I barrel roll randomly throughout any dogfighting.

Pictures of this setup are coming soon on a project announcement thread.

Cool. Is it 8 way? How does it do on shmups and games like Discs of Tron?
