Haven't built my CP yet, so take this with a grain of salt. I am going to build the pedestal by itself with 3/4" MDF. I am going to put a single panel of MDF on the top of it. Then the CP will go on top as its own contained box. I will drill 4 holes between them and attach carriage bolts as an easy(ish) connect/disconnect. I got this idea from the famous Mamestrosity: http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/d/ddilday13/home.html He has photos of the pedestal by itself then shows the CP box with the carriage bolts attached. I think you're doing an upright cabinet, but the theory should still work. Are you planning on moving this thing through doorways a lot? |

That's an excellent idea! Thanks! I was thinking of doing my lamination work prior to assembly of the pieces, so I didn't think about adding a piece of wood there. That's great. This will further be strenthened by the face plate below the CP. I will probably just laminate the interior part, or just the internal edge where the reveal will be. I don't plan on moving this a lot, but I would like options if I NEED to get it moved somewhere. |
