« on: March 13, 2002, 09:33:16 am »
Looking for cheap large cab with wooden sides i.e. easy to modify, and fix up!

Will pick up on weekend days, and cost around 0-200 dollars!

Thanks in advance!  E-mail me with pics if you have them!  (put arcade in subject line)

Hey pal, 8)
Have you ever been to a arcade auction? This is great place to pick up a used cab. I purchase a bad lands driving game for $80. The monitor didn't work but it was a easy fix. They were selling alot of cabs that would work great for mame for around $100 and you will have a great selection of cabs to choose from. Here are links to two of the auctions I've been to. Hope this helps.

I also recommend an arcade auction. There is one tonight in Columbus, also in Louisville on the 30th and one in indianapolis on april 20th. You'll probably get the best deal on a cabinet there. If your willing to spend up to $200 you can get a cabinet in good shape and relatively new. There were mortal kombat machines going for around $150 a few weeks ago when I went. You'll pay half of what you can get one for on ebay. And if you want junk cause your cheap like me you'll pay pretty much nothing, I got my cabinet for $20 there.

;D  I must say that I am enthusiastic about the idea, I wonder how many people in here I will be competing with to get the cab I want!

Seriously though, thanks for all of your help!

Unfortunately prices have been leaping lately at the auctions in Indy and Columbus.  For example, a Gauntlet conversion (Olympic 4 player)...which showed garbage on the screen ...sold for over $100!

What used to bring $300 is now bringing over $450.

I hope prices start going down again soon.

What I am trying to get across is that auctions are not as great as they were a year ago.  The last 3 auctions in Indy and Columbus have had less than 1/2 the amount of machines as compared to last year.  This has caused prices to go up.  The deals were usually later in the auction when buyers had bought all that would fit in the truck or on their trailer....then the prices would drop like a rock.

Hopefully the auctions will start having more machines, esp pinball....the pin prices have gone through the roof!

i agree on the pinball machines. They were crazy high people were paying $500 for non working machines that you can't even get parts for. And most of the machines were selling for about 50% more than they were worth. I think you can still get deals on the arcade machines maybe not as low as they were but still a reasonable deal.
