Original xbox games on xbox 360 slim 4gb???

Funnel:
My buddy has an Xbox 360 slim with 4gb and some original xbox games. Problem is that he can't play original xbox games because it says that those games require a hard drive. I read somewhere that if you use an 8gb usb stick it would work as a hard drive. Is there any truth to this??? Getting an official slim hard drive isn't easy now. 130$...

geomartin:
An original xbox can be had for $25-$35.  Original xbox emulation on xbox 360 does not support all games and many games have glitches and freezes on the 360.  About a third of my collection is not supported on the 360.

To use the original Xbox function, you need an actual hard drive installed.

And an official one - not one of those dodgy drives found on ebay.

the cheap "dodgy" drives on ebay work just fine and cost half as much, that's what i did, i got 250gb for 60$ it arrived in 3 days from a US shipper with 100% feedback. have not had any problems, nor have my friends who went the same route...

there is also a tutorial online for re-using an old xbox360 drive in a slim for an even cheaper alternative. the only reason i went with a 250gb is the price difference between a 20gb and 250gb was like 20$

my 2 cents, but i can now play all the halo, COD black ops, etc that my heart desires without any issues...
