Ripoff off a ripoff of a thread idea, that must be a first!

I win...

I never really liked Lucky Charms too much, you always have to eat the marshmallows first and suffer through that other garbage.

Cheerios.

Any cereal you HAVE to add stuff to (besides milk) in order to want to eat it is flawed.

Captain Crunch. Tasted good, but chewed up my mouth every time.

Cocoa Krispies.  I tried it for the first time the other day and it's just ---smurfing--- gross.  It doesn't even tast like chocolate.  It's just this totally not-chocolatey unpleasant sludge.

Coco Pebbles, OTOH, is really good, IIRC.

Smacks, was that the one with the frog?

Never was big on fruit loops or apple jacks.

I have to second cheerios.  I honestly can't eat them without thinking "I bet this is what pee tastes like."
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

That really sounds like some other issue more than anything to do with Cheerios.

Same here. There are even new cinnamon ones that are really good.

The only cereals I cant stand are Cocoa Krispies (cheers shmokes) and Kashi, which is like a healthy puffed rice packing material esque cereal. I downright love everything else. Even Raisin Brand, or Grape nuts. Shredded wheat, all that. LOVE EM. Cant really eat em though cause Im a diabetic.

My all time favorite hands down end all be all of cereals is Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I cant eat enough of it.
Pictures are overrated anyway.

I totaly agree on the Apple Jacks...Never liked it. OTOH I love Fruit loops.

Lucky charms is one of my favorites though...I don't mind regular cheerios either but I like some of the other flavors better.

Raisin bran is is good too...

I just can't eat Cinnamon toast crunch...ever since I was 10 and ate a whole box in one sitting...Now I think it's too sweet. Go figure.

Raisin Bran's got nothing on Raisin NUT Bran.

I dislike Lucky Charms and anything with "marshmallows" anymore.  Disgusting.  Too many marshmallows.

I love Captain Crunch Berries, but it can be brutal if you just go crazy on it.

Apple Cinnamon and Banana Nut are my favorite Cheerios flavors, though the Honey Nut is still great.

Probably should not add Kashi of any type as the title of this post is Popular breakfast cereals.   I can eat almost any cereal but I had to dump this stuff.  I cannot see i being popular with anyone but it gets alot of TV ads.

This is the exact opposite of what should be posted here, but Cranberry Almond Crunch is probably the best cereal in America.  The only thing I've had that comes close is a Nestle cereal, but all Nestle sells in the US is chocolate and baby formula.  For those who don't know, in Europe Nestle sels practically every type of prepackaged food product imaginable.  They're more like a Phillip-Morris (owner of Kraft, Nabisco, etc.).  I don't know why they don't compete more here.  I wish they'd at least enter the cereal market.

Lol . . . I've heard that before.  I had a super liberal French friend who saw the cereal sitting in my Kitchen and told me she wouldn't eat a Nestle cereal no matter how good it tasted.  I, on the other hand, will compromise my values for flavor.   ;D

it was partly a serious question. i eat nestle stuff and wonder if i were told cold hard figures would i stop, i mean i know their marketing has caused major suffering, but as you know i think the same of everyone in big business, they're all c words, and its hard to make ethical decisions even if you want to when surrounded by their values. i've given up trying cos i'm sure everything i do undermines my values somehow, but it is pretty crass that we can know a company has done openly immoral things and we just carry on funding them.

They are guilty of selling dodgy baby formula in third world countries. The formulas they can't sell in the West because they don't meet safety requirements. But I think I'm in your camp- If I were to boycott all the evil  companies, I would starve to death!

So I don't think about it and focus on that delicious battery hen flavoured KFC, while washing it down with my South American stand over merchant Pepsi, and for desert, some baby killing chocolate bars. Then on the way home I'll stop for fuel at a Gulf of Mexico destroying BP service station. At home, a quick checkup of my soul destroying, brain washing facebook and I'm done killing the earth for another day  ;D

i'm not sure it was dodgy formula, but that they gave it to people in africa who then stopped lactating and couldn't afford enough formula so diluted it leading to malnutrition, the lack of clean water added to the problems, theyre doing it in india now i understand, but yeah, no one can have values in this world and survive for long

The big issue, as I remember it, was that they were giving away formula to people as a nutritional supplement.  They did not educate anyone about the tendency of babies to refuse to breast feed once they have been bottle fed.  The babies got some formula, became hooked on bottles, and the formula stopped arriving.  Babies starved.  Nestle didn't address the issue.

As mentioned above they are also guilty of selling contaminated and/or nutritionally mislabeled formula in places where that sort of thing does not get discovered.

I don't know about everyone else, but I love fruity pebbles.
But living in Canada, we don't get them here... What's so bad in them (other than the copious amounts of food dye used) that they won't bring them here?!

Its a government conspiracy!

I don't know about everyone else, but I love fruity pebbles.
But living in Canada, we don't get them here... What's so bad in them (other than the copious amounts of food dye used) that they won't bring them here?!

Its a government conspiracy!

They are not in Canada because Kelloggs (Special K) holds the patent to this recipe. This is also why the Special K flakes are huge in the USA and have zero taste to them.

Re: Popular breakfast cereals (that really suck)

I don't do that many breakfast cereals (at least name brands) anymore...  what I do get is usually the off brand/generics of stuff like Apple Jacks, Cocoa Pebbles and Fruit Loops.  Lately, I've been eating a bit more oatmeal and a generic Bran Flakes box cereal.
