AC power, volume control, etc on cabinet?
robertsig:
I know these are out there, but Google makes me hit them randomly.
I was looking for a good web site that is Arcade/MAME friendly (would prefer to give my money to them) that sells various adapters, buttons and switches which are meant to hook up to a PC for controlling the various functions on the motherboard, like power-on, reset, volume, etc. So I will need something that is ATX pinout compatible, unless there are other options.
One thing I will install are the Neutrik USB ports.

Does anyone have something similar for ATX power or reset?
I was also thinking of using a Smart Strip that would power on my CRT at the same time it powers on the PC. Same requirement though - I would love a way to turn it on from the outside of the cabinet without opening it up.
Everything is going to be mounted or drilled into 5/8" MDF.
Suggestions?

ATX power and reset are just momentary buttons. You can use any normally open switch, even an arcade button. I did something similar when I decased my altec speakers. The volume up and down buttons were NO, so I just wired the controls up to two arcade buttons.

Alternatively, you can always use cabvol to control the volume. Have got cabvol launching from hyperspin and it works a treat.

If I were to buy a Smart power switch, something like this:

..I would love to be able to have a connector on the outside of my cabinet that is a power connector, like for a PC. Is there something like that which can be mounted in wood? Maybe a gang box, but which shows the male end so you can plug in a power cable to the wall outlet?

you could pull the power connector out of an old pc power supply and mount it in the back of the cab, then hardware the smartstrip to it inside the cab.
