always wonder, dose the software automatic turn this type of setup, or do you do it b y a button.

i so can see the benefit of having a rotating monitor.. i have a dedicated vertical which is great for shooters, but not the greatest for fighters, but its something i can live with for most part..  minus the ugly black spots top and bottom.... maybe i could get a mame jpg or something to show in them cases.  thanks for sharing.

DaOldMan & BurgerKingDiamond: I will shoot a video soon. Thanks for the compliments :)

Jipp: The monitor rotates depending on whether the game you choose originally used the monitor vertically or horizontally. This is accomplished using Mala for the front end and DaOldMan's plug-in software. It will be readily apparent in the video.

As far as the black bands on each side when in the horizontal position, I play in the dark to achieve the best experience and never notice the bands as they completely blend into the matting. Whenever I played the games originally, I played in the dark whenever possible because it made the screen more vibrant. So for me, it's like stepping through a time portal because the games look EXACTLY as they did when I played them 30+ years ago. And with the swappable control panels, it feels the way they used to feel as well.

In my case skill really didn't have a lot to do with it. I had to do many things more than once. Perseverance had a WHOLE lot to do with it. I really really really wanted to play Defender and Asteroids again. Heh, I get the cabinet together and I'm hooked on Crazy Climber, go figure :P.

Here is a video of the monitor rotating, pardon the quality, it's a camera phone.
