Most regular arcade monitors will show 288 lines before it has to go interlaced.
How much can you adjust the screen with the monitor vsize pot?

I have it adjusted so the screen takes up the whole foot print of the monitor.
Not sure if I can do anything else with it or I may have to play with the bezel

Have you tried shrinking it down while you have a tall game on screen? Different resolutions will need a little tweaking.

Did some tweaking like you suggested and played with centering and the borders, shrunk it down with some vertical games
and I'm happy to say it isn't bad at all now. Thanks for your suggestions and getting my lazy you know what, to break out
the control for the monitor and actually mounting it in a accessible place and taking the time to do what I should have done
a long time ago.

Thanks again

I use the slider controls in mame to adjust the screen to fit my 25" polo
usually it ends up around 800 to 900 when starting at a 1.000 screen horiz stretch
