Hello guys, Yes, I have the latest version of Daphne too and yes it works, even in Linux, BUT the point I was getting at is watch what happens when you disconnect the network cable. Also, I have found these updates sometimes cause 'harm' in that now for Esh's Aurunmilla...I get a stupid "Immature Rom" issue, of which I never had problems with before. For me this is like updating Mame all over again. I no longer do that anymore. I stick with one rom set (usually Mame .84 because that set works with the Xbox). I would like to do the same with Daphne. --- Quote from: Rusty Shackelford on January 25, 2011, 05:15:02 am ---I use the newest Daphne on my cab (XP) it works fine. Heres what I did. I downloaded daphne and did the big download (10Gish) of all the roms/framefiles exept the DL, DL2 files etc. Test every game then go into the Daphne menu and turn off the up dates. --- End quote --- Yup, did that. I marked off "disabled" for auto-updating in the Daphne menu and yet it still wants to connect to the internet. --- Quote from: Havok on January 25, 2011, 01:13:03 am ---Just loaded the brand new Daphne up and put my 997 Daphne files in there, and it works fine. For each game you have to hit the configure button, configure Laserdisc, say No for player option, and point to your framefile. I unplugged my network cable, and it started up with no problems. Running Windows 7. So, I can only come to one logical conclusion: ;D --- End quote --- Again, I am NOT after the new version. I am looking for a version of Daphne that is 'internet-not dependent'. I don't want to get stuck putting this thing in a cabinet and all of sudden it wants to connect to the internet. --- Quote from: ark_ader on January 25, 2011, 05:43:58 am --- Just run everything from the command line. You do not need a loader, and you can use just about any menu facility like Lemon to get you a basic menu front end. I just been playing with Puppy Arcade 10. I am sure you can get that distribution to play Daphne via that link for the linux files. Puppy has its own front end and it is damn fast. Puppy has a crap load of emu swith it and it is cab friendly. http://scottjarvis.com/page105.htm --- End quote --- I actually tried Puppy Arcade and I couldn't get it to work right. I had no sound and the video ran very slowly. You mention it is cabinet friendly...but can you change out the front end? At any rate, without sound and slow video, I kind of abandoned Puppy Arcade and moved on. Thanx, Geo |

Also, I have been running the previous 1.x release in my actual arcade cab - which does not have an internet connection, and it works just fine. One thing you may want to do is enable the switch for show command lines, and copy those into your front end. You don't need to run the DaphneLoader, but either way, it works just fine if there is no network connection... |

On my other computer system, Daphne REFUSED to even start up unless a network cable was connected. At any rate, I cannot get version .97 to work at all, not even through the terminal. So either I had a bum download or bum link. Time to start all over. Geo |
