I haven't seen it or read much about it besides the previews I saw.  Is it just a blatant rip off of Batman?

I couldn't get through it.  Comic books and the super hero genre have evolved so far beyond this production.  It seems like a little kid wrote after seeing the Batman and Spiderman movies.  Not an original hair on its head.

I wouldn't go that far.  As far as the comic book genre goes storylines, while more sophisticated on the surface, are just as silly if not sillier than the cape.  Comic art tends to suspend your sense of disbelief more... it looks far worse when you see a live action man in his underwear.  ;)

Yes and no.  A TON of the origin story is taken from Batman, but strangely enough and equal amount of backstory is taken from Robocop.  Let's hope in the future they stress the Robocop plot points and let the Batman ones fade away.

I have it on the DVR and based on reactions here and around the internet I'm probably going to delete it.  Summer Glau, while awesome, is the kiss of death for TV shows.  Firefly, Terminator, Dollhouse - at least she didn't end up killing Chuck (even though this might be the last season... OK, I can blame this one on her too...).
