| Ultimate Arcade II Quad Control Panel Plans??? |

Long time lurker, first time poster, hoping someone can help me out in desperate times! I purchased the Ultimate Arcade II plans from www.mameroom.com back in 2005. I've only just gotten around to actually building it! Slack, I know! ;D The main cabinet is built, so I went back to MameRoom to purchase the Quad Control Panel plans. Alas, the plans are no longer available! I contacted MameRoom directly ... not only do they not have the plans available anymore, they don't seem to have any copies. They don't even have the CNC templates to produce one in kit format. Now, after looking around at a lot of different designs, I'm still convinced the original big octagonal panel is the best looking for this cabinet. Scroll down on this page to the picture of the two cabinets standing shoulder to shoulder, and you'll see what they look like: http://www.dvdreviewer.co.uk/Forums/Gaming_and_Consoles/t588742/Ultimate_Arcade_II_Cabinet/page1 Now, I have Googled this until my fingers bled, and here's the best I could come up with: 1. Some guy who has built the control panel years ago, and doesn't respond to blog posts. The blog is ancient, on WordPress, and he probably doesn't even realise it still exists; 2. Another guy who did a review on the cabinet and control panel. His review says he was sent the plans ... got in contact with him, and he no longer has them; 3. A third guy who says on a forum that he has the plans ... but the forum seems to be broken, and I can't sign up to the site to ask him about them. Seriously, I'm starting to think a higher power doesn't want me building this! So, here it comes .... the begging bit. If *anyone* has the plans, or knows of anyone who does, could you PLEASE contact me! Please don't leave me to try and replicate this panel from scratch on my own! From what I can see, and what I've heard on one of the blogs above, there are 5 unique shapes to the sides, and they're all compound miter cuts ... so it would be an unholy nightmare to try and reproduce this one! Thanks All! Tok |

:notworthy: Be still my beating heart! :applaud: We're not talking about the Ultimate Arcade II "cabinet" here ... but the original plans for the MameRoom Quad Control Panel? Dastardly angles and all? And I take it by "new book", you're referring to the 2nd edition of Project Arcade? : http://www.amazon.com/Project-Arcade-Build-Machine-Wiley/dp/047089153X/ref=pd_sim_b_3 Do we have a release date? Would you accept a $30 Amazon voucher or similar type bribery, and a promise to buy the book, to send me a copy of those plans now? ;D Made my day! ;D |

I made their panel just from the dimensions they give in their layout software. :dunno That's all you need. |

If you're talking about the software (screenshot attached), then that's not what I'm after. This is a simplified version of their original Quad controller. The box itself doesn't have any slope, and it's not octagonal. I'm not interested in the control "layout" itself, those are a dime-a-dozen and can be found anywhere on the net. It's the construction plans for the octagonal quad controller box itself that I'm after. Here's a picture of the octagonal unit under construction, on the blog I mentioned of the guy who never replied: http://wesbuschman.com/blog/2009/02/the-control-panel/#comments Yeah, I could probably make this up as I go along, but it would be quicker if I had the original plans to work off. It's taken me the better part of 5 years to get around to building the cabinet ... don't want to take another 5 to build the control panel ;D Hopefully John will get back to me with a "yay" or "nay" on whether his new book has the plans for the *original*, octagonal quad controller. If it does, I'll wait out for that. Otherwise, I guess it's (literally) back to the drawing board ;D Thanks anyway! |
