Hey, I'm just wondering, but is it even possible to EVER sell that stuff legally? I mean, is it possible to buy rights to sell roms? Where would one go to? I know many of you guys make a veryvery big deal out of the illegal sale of roms, but is there an alternative? If you look at it from the other side, sales like this could introduce many, many new members to this community and this wonderful hobby. I for one have a bunch of friends that would LOVE to get involved in it, that have the know-how and drive to build a cabinet, but just can't work with any computers/software. A DVD-set like this would help them, and many others, greatly. I know that there's ethics too, but as I read many times on this board, what harm is there in selling games that nobody will ever commercialize again? I'm sorry if I upset anybody with this comment, and it is CERTAINLY not my intention on making this yet another 10-page ranting topic, but I've always wondered... Why all this hostility? |

Then it would be GAME OVER for everyone. Right now, it doesn't make much $en$e for them to bother with it. The seller's disclaimer is kind of funny. Makes me want to list a DVD set full of classic MP3s with the same disclaimer. (and imagine how much I'll be helping the bands by spreading their music to new listeners) I reported it as him selling copyrighted material on backup media. This conversation comes up time and time again. People will believe what they believe and think that it is right, only because it is what they believe. Supporting evidence doesn't really come into play. I haven't seen anyone change their mind. |

I was thinking he would have some random stuff. so i thought.. i dunno what i was thinking i guess.. anyhow, so i bid 12.00 and won.. then turns out i bought the web address to a popular rom webpage.. you know rom google would find for you. hah. the guy returned my money no questions asked.. but dang. i felt dumb. be careful guys with ebay. iv only been ripped off three times on ebay.. but.. it sucks just being ripped off once. I also hate listings that are miss leading.. and unless you ask exact questions you get taken. had that happen too. but that was my own fault i just assumed.. chris. --- End quote --- Years ago somebody put up an auction for an Xboxes photo at a time when you couldn't find an Xboxes in any store. The entire auction was worded in such a way that gave anyone the impression the Xboxes was the item. If you read all the way to the bottom, there was a small blurb clarifying the auction was actually for the guys photo of his Xbox. By that time the auction was already $800 or so. I emailed every one of the bidders with a reference to the blurb and sent a message to eBay about it. Nearly every one withdrew their bids bit eBay allowed the auction to continue because of the blurb at the very bottom of the page where no one would actually read it. The auction ended at less than a hundred but still...... What's the old saying? A fool and his money are soon parted. --- End quote --- makes you wonder what kind of person who knows he is ripping you off.. how can they sleep at night. shrugs.. obv someone i want nothing to do with, just wonder how they can make it ok in there head to do so. shrugs. maybe me growing up in a small town where everyone knows what girl you are sleeping with on Friday makes me care. what iv notice about roms and ebay.. most of the mame rom dvds being sold are always listed on the uk side and never complete sets. just one dvd or two. not sure if they have different rules. but they always have at least 10 listings for mame dvds chris. |
