was just wondering if any operators/technicians have any info on the workings of the I/O board used in the Big Buck Hunter Pro / Safari Hunter machines. Namely how the system deals with the information related to the gun position. I would like to build some deluxe cabinets with some plasma displays, but as we all know the optical system is not compatible with these types of displays. The deluxe cabinets I have seen have used the SEGA type of optical pickup with the infra red sensors to get around this issue. same as the projection monitor games. Does anyone know how the BBH computer actually processes the gun info for use in the game? i was taking a look at the ultimark aimtrak, it uses a similar system optically as the SEGA type pickup, and would work in this type of setup, but i'm not sure about the tracking info provided by it. I'm likely barking up the wrong tree here, if anyone knows of a way to do it i'd entertain it. |

Did you ever get anywhere with this project? I know its been a couple years, but thought I would give it a shot. |

no...but apparently the new HD versions that use lcd/plasma displays use a USB board that keeps track of the gun position. we will be ordering an big buck HD unit in the near future. I'll see if i can't find out what the deal is. |

mainly i was wondering if it was just a mouse cursor x/y...where something like the aimtrak (mouse emulation) could be hacked to work. |
