True Grit (2010)

It was a great movie. It wasn't in the same camp as Burn After Reading, and that was a little disappointing.

Well done.

I agree. Just saw this tonight. My lack of prejudice comes from the fact I forgot who was directing it! That girl was brilliant. Totally pulled off that whole 'kid who's never had a chance to just be a kid' angle. I haven't read the book, but I was impressed with the realism, especially spoken. The speech, and the sentiment. For instance, the Texas Ranger saying to the girl something along the lines of 'I had the notion I would steal a kiss from you while I was watching you sleep'. In a modern context, how thoroughly disturbing, a 30 something year old man saying that to a 14 year old girl. But its the 1870's, and times much different to our own.

I think my only disappointment was that Josh Brolin didn't have a very big part to play, even though the whole story centres on his character.

4/5 Sharps Carbines (",)

All I hear from the reviews is how she steals every scene she's in.  Maybe it's just me, but I personally grew tired of the whole 'look at how beyond my years I am!' thing pretty quickly.  Don't get me wrong, I thought it was a good movie, but it was mostly because of Jeff Bridge's character.
