Pinball emulation
« on: November 25, 2010, 04:26:37 pm »
Hi guys,

Forgive my ignorance, but I have a question with a probably way too obvious answer. I'm about to finish setting up the software end of my first MAME cab. Now, I would like a handful of pinball tables to be emulated on the cab. I don't know if this is doable on my P4 gaming dinosaur, and how to get started on it. What emulator do I use? Can it be integrated into Hyperspin? Is it doable on a horizontal monitor setup? Does the romsystem work the same as with other emulators?

I'm not looking for the best and/or most realistic result, I just want to have some fun with it "for old time sake" (we used to play the crappy windows XP pinball emulator all the time in school). When I move to a bigger place I'll get the real deal anyway ;).

Thanks a bunch!

Dazz

The only ones you need are Visual Pinball w/ PinMAME and Future Pinball.  I don't think Future Pinball is going to be any good on a P4, but you should get something out of Visual Pinball w/PinMAME.

Check out www.vpforums.org for more info.

Before I built my mini pincab, I ran Future Pinball in one of my mamecabs on a P4.  I had a somewhat decent videocard in it though.  Took a little tweaking on some of the video settings, but it's doable.
