Converting a PS3 controller into an arcade stick
Essential J-Balls:
Hey, I'm interested in tearing apart a couple wireless PS3 controllers to build a couple arcade sticks for Street Fighter IV and any other games I want a stick for. I was hoping there might be some plans of some sort on this forum and there just may be, however I can't find anything. Anyone know how to do this or knows the link to how? Thank you very much.

This is the inside of a playstation one controller which, if I'm not mistaken, works with a playstation 3.
All you need to do is solder the joystick and pushbuttons to the blue and red points.

A PSX controller will not work directly with a PS3. You will need a PSX>PS3 converter. I don't recommend these because they are expensive and add input delay.
I highly, highly recommend the Cthulhu line of PCB's.

Cheap, durable, well tested, and easy to install.
If you need wireless then I recommend the AXIS adapter.

I've been wanting to do the same thing. Buttons are not a problem, D-pad is also not a problem since it works like buttons (simple ground/button, add a button in the middle), but what about the analog...? :s How do you convert the 4-microswitch arcade joystick input into the analog input such controllers require?
