Deal alert - USB wireless stick
yotsuya:
My USB stick just showed up today. I'll play with it after dinner and let you know how it worked out.
yotsuya:
Word of advice- go to the SMC website and download the drivers for the USB stick before you install. The ones on the disk are worthless. The ones from the website work perfectly. My cab is now a part of my home network!
Kevin Mullins:
Received mine today.
And yes, drivers were a pain in the ass.
I ended having to get two sets of drivers from the SMC site and combining them since the first set was missing files.
But it worked.
Reached out to my shop, albeit weak, but it reached.
Figure if I just add an extension cable to it I can get better reception by moving it around a bit.
Worth the $10.00 I figure.
yotsuya:
I ran a cable from the motherboard in the bottom of the cab and put the usb stick in the top of the cab. Worked perfectly for me. I too had to combine drivers, but I used the one from the disk with the ones I downloaded. I put them both together on a flash drive, and it worked perfectly. I only installed the drivers and not the SMC utility and let Windows manage the wireless. One less thing running in the background.

So you got yours before I got mine? I shouldn't have posted my comment earlier. ;)
Oh well. It's for a small project so if it's not here until Monday, it's not an issue.
