The Walking Dead
SavannahLion:
I was going to say shane isn't really that dumb but that got me to thinking about the fishing/frogging scene back at camp. Fishing and frogging isn't that tough. My 3 year old can catch frogs. Fishing just takes patience. Yet shane comes up with this dumb idea to scare frogs into the net?
So yeah, I say he's dumb. To be fair though how would anyone act with the militaryshooting people at one end of a hallway and geeks coming the other way.
Me? I would've gone out the window.

(50% of the population, unfortuantely) That flashback wasn't intended to make Shane look more human, it was intended to show that he's both dumb as a box of rocks (he could have took rick with him!) and a coward that panics under pressure.
At least I HOPE that was the intention, because if it wasn't that was some horrible writing there. Thus far the series is going completely off from the comic so I can withdraw my comments about character developement, but the writing seems to be hit and miss. It's like for every brilliant idea they follow it up with a colossal dose of stupidity to cancel it out.
This is one of those shows I'll watch and complain about it at the same time. Then again, by the time the next season is up I might not be interested anymore. :(

Yes, Im with you there, it was there to show what really happened, and to definetly show that Shane is a dumb ass, cant be trusted, and is also in fact, a coward. See, I havent read the comic, so I dont know anything, but I also have nothing to compare it to, except all the other zombie flicks. I thought the CDC was a good idea, but youre right, the whole self destruct sequence etc...I dunno, I got it when I was watching it, but now that I analyze it a little more, its a little ridiculous. Suicide? Its not like its airborne or anything, if THAT was the case, I would have popped myself too cause damn, there is no way around that...

Nah these are scientists man, and hardcore science guys work at that deep in the cdc. They wouldn't give up, they'd keep on working till the end.

Put a hardcore scientist in a building with a 24 hour time bomb and see if he'll spend that time working on a cure for Aids or looking for the nearest door. Some might try and keep working, for example the scientist that was left did.
Although I was kind of hoping the secret he whispered was some kind of new plot twist that was so shocking about the virus that it caused the scientists to kill themselves, but in the end it looks like the CDC episode was a way for the show to get back to the comic.
The wife is pregnant and they are back on the road to see how bad humanity becomes without law and order.

Well that's kind of my point. Scientists seek solutions to problems, they don't act irrationally. If you are around a bomb the practical solution is to get away. If you are safe and secure in a zombie proof building during the z-apocalypse and are smart enough to where you might actually be able to do something about it, you don't kill yourself, you stay in the f-n building!
Ginsu Victim:
Finally watched the mini-series "Dead Set" yesterday, and it was awesome. I really wish The Walking Dead had the bleak look Dead Set did.
