I think I know what you are talking about with the hardware. Got a couple of those myself. ;)
Never thought of using black shelving. You get that at your local hardware store? I've seen white and blond or natural "wood" color but never black.

Got the shelving at Home Depot. It is not in the shelving area. It is usually found in around the area where they have melamine coated particle board 4 x 8 sheets and pine shelving.

Used the Kreg jig to make pocket holes in all my interior pieces. Ready now for assembly. Only piece that does not have pockets is the back panel which will be hinged with a lock.
