Been putting this off for a while, now...

... but ever since my father's murder, I've been thinking to myself, hey, do it while you can, and have recently started to take another look at building my first cab. I've been on these forums for a couple years now, and mostly kept to the console section, but I've always wanted to build my own cab, and now that I've moved into my house, the timing seems right. I bought (not thinking things all the way through) a 36" Gateway Destination monitor which works great for my nesputer, but I had always intended it to be my monitor in the cab. I recently moved it into my office, and as I was looking at it while walking to the bedroom, I noticed just how huge it really is. My question is, is do you all think I should stick with that monitor (if I do I may have to decase it - something I've never done), or should I sell it and get a smaller Wells for the cab? Any other thoughts? Thanks!

That's too big for me for a standard cabinet. Anything over 27" is too much for me, makes me motion sick/hurts my eyes. However, if you're going to build a pedestal style cabinet that'd be a nice monitor for it.

I've toyed with the pedestal style, but I've really come back to drawing mockups for a standard upright. I originally wanted a 4 player CP, and I figured the extra size in the monitor would give 4 adult players enough room to stand at their station without feeling cramped, but now that I imagine it in my head, that monitor would have to be near the ceiling in the room it's in for it to be proportionate (The office has a lower ceiling at around 8' tall). I'll have to take that pedestal set up back into consideration, and see if it'll fit into my loft, which has more space. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, if you try to get a bigger TV like that 36" monitor in there, you run the risk of:
