He streamed it live, it was pretty cool seeing the last stretch of beating the world record. That guy is an Asteroids god. Well, current one :D |

I wonder if "Greg" from this show ever came across this website? Assuming he is still around! I also like the "how long will they be around" question raised in the show...in hindsight it is neat to evaluate the question...they lasted another 20 years before the consoles and computers took over ;) Now the same computers and consoles that took over allow us to build the cabs once again...full circle :) |

I love these old clips, makes me wish I could go back for just a little bit and experience it again. A time that has truly come and gone. |

Amazing how 28 years later, how much of these two clips still resonates so well with our society. Although now so much of that is done in the home with those quarters going to the purchase of PS3/Wii/XBox DVDs from big-box stores. Nevertheless, I know I'm one of a large group of 30/40-somethings hoping to wake up in the middle of the night with a brainstorm idea to make a rebirth arcade work as a successful financial business venture :) Until then, long live MAME! It’s weird when I was 5 my dad bout me the Atari 5200 that I really got into it. I was the king of Pack Man, Joust, Mario Brothers, Forger. I never played any of these games in the arcade since for as long as I can remember I owned them. It’s weird to see 16 year old get just as involved in the same games as a 5 year old. |
