my jukebox build new pictures
« on: August 24, 2010, 11:22:28 pm »
hey all

well after much thought , questions , suggestions , shopping , searching etc ive  finally made a start on my juke

i still have to build the pelmet which will house a jukebox sign lit from behind , also possibly a griffin volume knob

i also still need to add three buttons to work with skjuke , list , clear , A-Z (instead of jump) and other button suggestions would be welcomed for skjuke i may add back as well

the buttons are stainless with etched numbers on them they dont look as good in the photos as they should , ill take a close up of them when i do the next photo shoot

it will be painted with 2pac high gloss black as my mate is a spraypainter

so here is one days work (a full day as there were some very difficult angles but managed to only waste one piece of mdf

i will run some nice adelaide floorstanders off it (cant wait until i get them)

Nice juke! I love the angles that make it a corner unit!

You plan on using SKJukebox or DWjukebox?

no i dont think ill mount the speakers in the same cabinet , im looking at a nice set of floorstanders so ill place them for optimum sound , its up and running , still have to paint , wired in the left right up and down buttons but havent got a led light adaptor so i have to order one for the ipac ,wish chris had told me , can also ran into a small problem with wiring the buttons , as you have to daisy chain the ground it will make it a pain to take a single button out if a problem occurs , so im after a terminal board (something like an ipac i can individualy hood the buttons ground to so i can pull them out singular)
if anyone knows of a cheap solution please let me know

im looking for a nice usb volume knob similar to the griffin powermate (what a shame it has the tail hanging out) i want silver as the juke will be a high gloss black , the buttons will be blue leds , i want to mount the knob halfway between the bottom of the monitor and the top of the buttons

any suggestions (must be silver though)

some extra options mapable would be handy as the griffen does , i could map n for next to a function and c for clear to a function that would save me adding any more buttons at all

should get time to build the pelmet next tuesday or wednesday hopefully , and if you have any good ideas for making the marquee id love to hear them

getting there , the juke will have the griffin knob in the middle vertical under the monitor . the powermate is great it does volume up down . press in and turn right is next song  press in and turn left is clear song que press in is mute and press in and hold is standby

the next and clear cue options are a bonus as now i dont need to add those buttons

it will be painted piano black so the blue lights will look great , i havent ordered my juke marquee yet and i havent hooked up the number buttons yet but im getting there

Looking forward to seeing pics of the jukebox finished.

I've got some questions for you.

I noticed on your original plans you were going to have buttons for A-Z, what changed your mind on that?

Are you going to run SK Jukebox or go with SKG Jukebox?

Where did you pick up the Griifen Powermate from?

By the way great looking games room.

i initially was going to go a-z as skjuke had on the jump button which i wasnt really keen on , but it was too many buttons too much wiring and just not worth it , as you know skg juke now has the buttons a-z on screen

at the moment i have both sk juke and skg juke set up , its no problem running both as there are still slow scrolling issues with skg , in the end though skg will get the nod as geek is working hard on creating a very good juke , a couple of things that i dont like about skg at the moment though is the slow scroll , no option to color fonts etc or resize , and the large number buttons ( i have number buttons on my actual juke so i want to get rid of these) hopefully i can find a programmer to help me here ( i may have one) but if anyone can do it let me know

the griffin powermate is a must for a juke i think  and i got it from http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/input-devices/41187-griffin-powermate-pics-lets-see-m-guys.html

also i just found and have ordered this to run my leds , at the moment i wired a old usb cord to my leds using the 5volt but problem is when i shut my computer down they stay on as the usb holds power so i have to turn off the mains as well , this circuit board will be the an easy way to run my leds as i have 14 of em 0-9  up down left right http://www.nicemite.com/PowermiteDD/PowermiteDD.htm  good price for 22 bucks delivered from the states

finally got around to adding some pics of my finished juke , been finished for a while but i cant seem to take pics that do it justice as the gloss paint is too reflective , these are the best i can do at the moment , the last thing i want to do is get silver metal jukebox letters for the pelmet

very happy with it , i was using skg jukebox which i loved but for some reason some albums and songs wont play even though they are playing on other players?? very frustrating at times

ive just started testing touchjams jukebox , it isnt free but it is very very good.

Re: new juke pics and lossless flac thoughts?
« Reply #20 on: October 11, 2011, 04:58:11 pm »
ill be ordering my new speakers today , cant wait for them to arrive , with the emotiva amps which have made  a difference even in my small satelittes ill be enjoying some great sound soon

ill also be able to mount the amps up in the corner as there is a little speaker up there at the moment , im looking at running my speakers on the other side of the room , sound will determine though where best to put em

starting to get my music into flac lossless format , anyone have any thoughts on the difference , the file size is so much bigger but with hard drives these days its no problem as only my favorite albums maybe 1-200 will be flac at this stage , my question is           is it worth the time and effort to go with flac files considering most of my music is at 320 now and minimum of 192 , i cant wait for my new speakers so i can hear the difference or not hear the difference between flac and 320

hey guys,  havent done anything to the juke for a while except enjoy using it

im after some advice on a sign for the jukebox , and anything else that may improve the looks

im thinking of a chrome jukebox sign or maybe a lighted sign , anyone know of any suppliers that may custom make a sign like this , a chrom juke sign with lights lol

any other ideas would be welcomed , maybe i can have something to jazz the sides up , some album cover pics, i know a good signwriter that would do anything

any ideas would be really wecolmed

Nice juke, I love the black gloss piano finish  :applaud:

I would go with a top marquee and/or side lighted logo (using a sticker printout on a white plexi, which would diffuse the light uniformly)

the blue arrow buttons were from aussie arcades , you need an ipac i think it is , its a circuit board representing a keyboard so you can use them

the number buttons are from china etched with numbers , i havent hooked them up i dont need them but ill hook them up one day just for effect and i can map certain features too extra buttons

pretty easy , the volume control is a griffen power mate , and the program is touchjams , imo the best on the market and only 50 bucks
