Any non-drinkers here?

Don't drink, never have... never will.

There's no point to it really.  People generally start drinking because at some point in their life they gave into peer pressure and drank, felt that at a young age drinking would make them seem mature, or stupidly use alcohol's intoxicating effects to hide from the problems of life.  All three are terrible reasons if you ask me.

That isn't to say that I'm anti-drinking, but rather I just don't get the appeal to the point of where I'm almost disgusted at it.

Kind of like gay sex.  I don't hate gay men, but I don't understand how they could possibly want to stick their... ugh now I got a mental image ewwe!   :dizzy:

I also don't get people who drink too much... repeatedly.  I can get being wasted once... but after that shouldn't you have learned you lesson?  It's kind of like sticking a fork in a light socket, flying across the room from the shock, shaking yourself off and trying it again because this time you are sure the shock won't be as bad.  ;)

Historically speaking though, beer in particular, played a VERY important role in anglo-saxton history back in medevil times... it was the only source of clean nourishment with lots of calories and nutrients for poor people.  But then again we can afford food now, so there you go.

Benevolance:
Because drinking obviously is an all-or-nothing proposition and a person who drinks must always drink to get wasted; it would not be possible for a person to drink responsibly or drink in moderation. :)

I said that, and felt the same... for 25 yrs.  Then it was time for a drink  heh

If that were true, nobody would ever drink.   The point is getting a little toasted.
Feels good.  I get all smiles / giggles, and then later start doing Drunken Kungfu...
and or finding a spot on the dance floor.

Strangely, if I drink even a little at home, I just get really tired and feel like sleeping.

Anyways, Its only if you over-doo it, that things get ugly.   Eating fast food 2x
a week is a lot worse than the occasional drink here and there.

Thats how I feel about smoking.  But then again, smoking is disgusting.

Ive did just that with a few woman.  They liked it...    :)

Depends on the person & their experience.  After a few bad nights, I quickly learned the
pace at which I should drink, and the number of drinks that would be ok.   Of course,
if you are trying out new drinks, its very easy to go past your limit.  Liquor has like an
hour delay till you feel it.  People often keep drinking cause they dont feel it.. then get
blasted when the bell tolls an hour later.

As for others, there are people who drink to erase their pain / memory.  They cant
deal with themselves and their lives, so just get so blitzed they cant think or feel a thing.
A real tragedy.

I never would promote drinking.. but its not anywhere near as bad as I judged it
all those years ago... so long as you do it in moderation.

That was me.  I drink occasionally now but not that much.  My reason is simple - I like feeling healthy and being in shape more than I like the feeling alcohol gives me.  I'm thinking about taking 2011 off completely.  I'm hoping to have kid #3 some time in the middle of next year so the wife won't be drinking anyway - makes it a lot easier.

 What you siad got got me thinking. I like to 'challenge' myself to tests like this.
