In The Groove 3: Custom Built Cabinet
« on: August 27, 2010, 01:31:52 am »
So, after lurking though here off and on for ideas over the past few years... I thought I'd actually post one of my projects *laughs*

Since well... Konami sued Roxor... and got the rights for ITG 3...  There was no chance of the game really seeing the light of day... (What was done of the game was leaked out of Roxor, and some people in the community have been working on it since then) Hence, the actual ITG 3 theme on the cabinet... But of course, an actual "ITG 3" cabinet would never see the light of day... Until now ;) My goal was just to create an actual cabinet that when people walked up to it would think it's an actual official ITG 3 cabinet from Roxor... (and I've even played a few jokes on people saying that I got the cabinet from Roxor games... that it's a beta cabinet...) and I've had a few people in person (that know what happened to ITG3) be very confused when they seen it. *laughs* Anywho.

Totally custom designed cabinet, custom decals, custom laser-cut stainless steel for the pads, using actual arcade sensors, Dual IPAC 2's for Input (one in pad, one in cabinet), PACDRIVE for controlling the lights, 32 Inch Widescreen LCD, Full LED lighting system (minus the neons for the subs), USB Key interoperability with ITG 1/2 arcade machines.

WOW! Love the work you put into this! Really solid build, and nice video (how all dance games should be demo'd)

Holy crap.  That's a scratch-built cabinet??  Unreal.  Hopefully you can play other dance games on it too...

ok, so what took longer, building the game, or mastering the song you demo'd on youtube?

In any case, excellent work.

Beautiful, it looks like a real ITG cabinet! I'm a DDR player, but not really that good. It would be fun to play doubles on that cabinet!

*laughs*, yup... totally scratch built... and since well as my friend says "Pictures or it never happened", here is some 'arcade machine porn" as my friend calls it...

and as for other games... the software that runs it, is OpenITG, which is based off Stepmania... (So I can change the theming on it... so I could make it into almost any kind of DDR machine...) as well I can add song packs to it as people make em... So well, I have thousands of songs with stepcharts out there I could put on it. So yeah, it's not just limited to a few songs.

*laughs*, I've been playing the game (DDR / ITG) for about 10 years now actually... off and on. The cabinet took about 8 months to build.  (And if you would believe it, I know people that are _WAY_ better than I am, lol.)

and thanks DCsegaDH and Nicodumas.
