MiniPac OPti/WiniPac setup for spinner - help needed!
« on: July 21, 2010, 03:35:37 pm »
I have a MiniPac Opti and I can't seem to get my Tron spinner to work. The spinner moves the mouse cursor along the x-axis in Windows ok. I can't work out how to assign it in the WiniPac setup software.

I have the Analog Dial in MAME set to mouse X. I tried checking/unchecking the "use mouse" in MALA.

Anyone? Just got my Tron Mini monitor working and need to play Tron!

Hello Sir Ginsu, I've tried that, same thang. I'm sure it's just something simple, but it's case of "can't see the wood for the trees" methinks. Strange how the spinner works in Windoze but not in MAME.

You said it's set in MAME to Mouse X. Did you set it or was it already set?

As far as I can recall it's the default setting - Dial Analog = Mouse X. Beats me...

Have you tried setting it yourself? Maybe it's pointing to the wrong mouse input by default.

Tried setting it in MAME, yes. I hit enter to set the key, then try spinning, then nothing. Then have to hit esc, which then shows "Mouse X" again. I've tried disconnecting the PC mouse but get the same result. Is there some way of setting up a spinner in the WiniPac util? When I try the 'test controls' option in WiniPac, all the other controls flash up, ie. joy up/down, P1/P2 etc, but nothing happens with the spinner.

Tried adding a trackball/"other control" to the CP in WiniPac but still no joy.

PS. Have mailed Andy Ultimarc to see if he has any clues.

Did you try spinning at different speeds when setting it in MAME? Sometimes it doesn't want to read it at certain speeds. Try slow, medium, fast.

I don't know if Mala has the same thing as Maximus does but the only way I got my spinner to work in MAME was to add -mouse in the command line section so it runs with every game that is started in MAME.
