Smash Tv sound problem

I am having trouble wiring up a smash tv.  I have everything wired, i have sound but no voice.  The announcer's voice and other voices are not there.  I have the music and sound of bullets firing, but that is it.  I have 2 of each board (video and sound) and have tried all variations and it makes no difference.  Anyone have any insight on this?

Smash TV uses a -5v connector.  Without it connected it will suffer from strange sound.  I have a Smash TV arcade at home.

Do you have any pics of the board and how you have it connected?  Post them here.

Remove and reseat the sound roms one at a time. Try another ribbon cable between the CPU and sound CPU. Be sure the red stripe on the ribbon cable goes to pin 1 on both boards.

thanks for the advice, i don't think it can be the chips on the board, i have 2 complete sets of boards here, sound and game and i have the problem no matter what i do.  I may not have connected -5V, however, i will check that.  I dont think the harness even had that input.  I will post some pics of the boards shortly, thanks for your help!

here are the photos of my boards, the first is the PCB, the second is the sound, the third is a wire that i have idea where it goes.  It is a single white wire located in the lower left of the board near the jamma connection.  Otherwise, everything else is hooked up according to the instructions i have here.  I dont know if that one wire could be the problem.  It is weird, i did a sound test and there are 5 tests, 2 music ones sounded perfect, 1 was distorted, and there were 2 voice tests and i got nothing.  The game just is not fun without the voice!
