Are there many musicians here?

RTSDaddy2:
Play piano and organ (don't even go there), plus acoustic rhythm guitar, recorder, harmonica, clarinet (been a long time, but I could probably pick that instrument up again within a  few weeks). I also sing and have written original material for the duo I formed with my sister in the 90's.

I read this again, and thought, dang that sounds like bragging. It's not meant to be; my sis and I come from a background of music, especially where Southern Gospel is concerned. Its' just in our blood.

CCM:
I'm 38 and just bought my first guitar...  So I'm sure I'll never be a musician, but I hope to be able to play competently someday.

I just bought a cheap acoustic for now.  This way if I really suck, I'm not out a ton of money, and if I keep with it, I can always buy an electric later on.

Musicians Friend had a sale last week on a Washburn D6S Dreadnought for $84.

I guess it's not technically my first guitar.  I had a cheap electric when I was 17, but I never really played it and it ended up just collecting dust.

eds1275:
I am a guitar player mainly [it's pretty much my job], but I sing and play mandolin and bass guitar as well. I program drums like a crazy mofo and I can play piano well enough to fix it in protools. I'm a composer, mainly guitar driven music and pretty small time but I make enough to live off of it. On the side I also run live sound when people are willing to pay me enough - I have a great rep but I don't like dealing with the drama of live music. I have worked with Randy Bachman, Heart, Joan Jet, David Suzuki, Econoline Crush, Bill Cosby, and hundreds of nobodies. Most of the bigger guys are pretty humble about it, but the up-and-comings have that sassy ---smurfette--- attitude that I don't like to deal with.

Besides, I love putting on a pair of boxer shorts, going downstairs, picking up a guitar and a cup of coffee and being "at" work. I don't make a killing but I make enough to be happy, and I only work about 25 hours a week.
