Got some questions restoring a Marvel v Capcom dynamo cab
« on: July 12, 2010, 01:26:42 pm »
Hi guys, this is my first post being new to the forums and all. I have a few questions cause Im a total noob when it comes to this stuff, but I bought Saints book, and this seems like an awesome hobby since I used to frequesnt the arcades when I was a kid. I picked up this cab from a guy selling it for 100 bucks, but it needs work. I replaced a few pieces of the cab (the part that holds the speakers) the marquee, some plastic, mostly cosmetic stuff. Im now trying to work on the guts but Im stuck. Do you guys have any idea why when I turn the cab on, the sound goes all the way up to the maximum? I keep having to open up the control panel and turning it down everytime I power it on. Any ideas? Also, my stats dont save if I leave the machine off for more than 10 minutes. I tested the ram and stuff in config menu, and it said ok, but other than that, I have no idea. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Pictures are overrated anyway.

Marvel VS Capcom is a CPS2 game there are volume controls on the A or B board that will adjust the audio (plastic buttons labeled VOL UP and VOL DOWN). As for the high scores, I dont think CPS2 saves them when you disco power from the board, the battery onboard is for keeping the XOR decryption files active ( read up on phoenixing CPS2 / suicide battery)

EDIT: You'd get more answers in the MAIN or MISC ARCADE sections. This section is more for showing off restores not questions about them

If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Yeah, I noticed the volume buttons, cause thats how I turn it down every time I start it up, but it goes to max everytime. Oh well, I guess it doesnt matter considering Im going to MAME it anyway. Thanks so much, I also appreciate the info regarding the JPAC/IPAC questions from the other thread.

What kind of cab (style) was your game in?

I have one I have been tinkering with myself.

Its in a dynamo cab right now. I had some monitor issues but I got those fixed, kinda pointless though considering Im just gonna replace the monitor with a TV. The guy I bought it from broke the keys that are needed to disconnect the game from the board, so its taped on there, so I thought that was the issue but it wasnt. I think its something wrong with the B board itself. I wiggled the button when the sound crapped out and then it went to full blast again. I hate being a noob cause I dont know what to do lol.
