Street Fighter games are better than Mortal Kombat games
AzureKnight:
I played SFII and the early MK games quite a bit. Once SF started going hyper/alpha I really didn't have time in the arcades anymore (work, wife, etc). So I can only really comment on many of the earlier versions. For me it was Street Fighter all the way. My biggest complaint with the Mortal Kombat games was that all the "core" moves of the players were primarily the same, only the special moves distinguished them. I liked the fully varying styles of Street Fighter II.
Necroticart:
While I had a good time playing the MK games they have always been a bit unbalanced well ok not balanced at all as for street fighter it's alway been a game of skill knowing your frame data, invincible frames ,counters and precise timing and motions on your moves hence why most players hate SS4 coming from vanilla the tighten controls have thrown a lot of fans off.

Why would you hate Super Street Fighter 4?
Yeah, T. Hawk is a "why in the **** would they ever bring him back kind of character", but overall SSF4 is straight up greatness.
[EDIT]
Also...
I agree with the OP. Street Fighter is better than Mortal Kombat.
Mortal Kombat's fighting system is poop.
