Street Fighter games are better than Mortal Kombat games

Shaolin Monks was loads of fun!
SlayerAlex:
It depends on WHY you like the games i suppose. If you like a game because of graphics, storyline, or gore, then ya sure MK is better. But if you are like me and like a game because if its gameplay then SF usualy had better, deeper, and competition worthy gameplay. There are still Super Turbo tournys to this day and people are STILL finding out new stragities and combos for that game. It was definitly ahead of its time.

I think the last good MK was UMK3. Heres some video if anyon e ever wondered what high levl MK looks like.

but i understand not everone is all about competition like i am. Of course always play whatever you think is fun :P and while i never was too into MK i am getting pretty hype for MK9 since they promice a more unique and deeper fighting engine.

All BS aside, the MK games were great fun until they went 3D, then it was all downhill from there (exception of course is MK Shaolin Monks, but it wasnt a fighter)

Definitely wouldn't say ANY Street Fighter game. You did forget one particularly BAD Mortal Kombat game:

Started with SFII,  (and the hyper / ce  editions)

and liked it.  But over time, it just became too boring.

 Flaws: Blocking is too easy
Jumping distances are too predictable (set).
Many specials, such as ChunLi's inverted leg move, are too slow to be able to land.

Characters are either bland, or just plain pathetic.  Too cartoony for my tastes.

---

 MK1

Loved the Digitized characters, the more realistic look.  Much cooler characters &
special moves.

Block button made it much harder to stop attacks, & made better gameplay.

 Flaws:

Combat engine is way too limited. The engine seems to cheaply be able to
counter you with the same move, even if you do it first.

---

 MK2

Had some new new characters, but the look changed to a more cartoony look
that I persoanally didnt like too much.  I didnt care about babalities & crap like that.
Combat engine still too limited.

---

 KI

Taking the better things of SFIIce, and enhancing the engine 100 fold.  The
custom combination's possible in this game are nearly unlimited. No other fighter
is quite that free and expansive in allowable creative depth.  While blocking still is
a little easy.. the combo system balance's things out.  Moves and gamplay
are faster. The combo break feature is genius. Broken combos = more genius.
Shadow moves, hold+release moves = Icing on the cake. The Music is Rockin good.

Flaws: Graphics are cheesy, & so are many of the characters.  Still, the gameplay
is so good, its easy to overlook it.  Some bad bugs allow too much cheap play to
those who are ruthless.   Too easy for the computer to break your combos at times.

 Soul Calibur

   - Tried to play this a few times, but gave up.  Its felt way too slow and clumsy
for my tastes.

---

 Tekken III

Loved this game.  Revolutionary, because they used real motion captures from
martial artists.. and it shows.  While not perfectly true to the arts, it captures
a lot of realism never seen in many fighting games. (minus juggles, poor
collision rules, etc)  However, even with so many moves available, the combat
is somewhat awkwards at times. The fighting is often executed too slow to be
fluid, realistic, and adrenalized.

The variety of moves make it hard to block until you understand each character,
which helps out.  The additional parry moves are a nice treat, but often too slow
and risky to perform.   Music is great.  Many cool characters w/ interesting moves.

Finally, a 'non-set' jump (even tho its too slow)

The combination's are fun, but limited.

---

 MKIII  /  Ultimate  /  etc.

  - Fast, Furious, Brutal & Adrenalized.  I never got good at this game, but I Loved
the way it made me feel when playing it.  The RUN button was Genius, as it
made the pace of the game faster, and created so many more timing possibilities,
that the players were not easily able to predict things like nearly all previous
fighters.  You will see far more missed blocks in MK3 than any SF game.

The Series Finally gets its Depth!  The Combo Hits are limited, however,
they are Fast and Fun. Unlike Tekken III, which feels too slow to even Be a fight.
Its also more realistic to combat, in that if you get hit good once, your gona be
stunned & susceptible to getting hit several more times repeatedly.

The Characters are less cartoony than MKII, with good details & better shading.
The new characters added are Awesome, and they have great special moves.
Theres a TON of characters in the game, which will take some time to master them
all.   The game has a level or realism, darkness, and humor, that we all love.

 Flaws:

Seems like there is too much ability to juggle, and they take too much energy
off too quickly.  The combo system isnt as deep and free as other fighters, like
KI.  Rounds seem to be too short.. maybe cause I sucked  heh

---

MK9  (from watching clips)

Ugg.  The 3d animations are all wrong. Too slow, too many frames.  Its like
the entire game is in slow motion.  The x-ray camera zoom is Stupid looking,
creates motion sickness from the zooming, and ruins gameplay combat speed.

The series has went down the Toilet once it went 3d.

-----

 Results from these games reviewed:

1) KI = Best Overall Fighter? Incredible depth & great competition play
2) MKIII Ultimate = Most adrenalized fighter. Very Fun
3) Tekken III = More of a relaxed & cerebral   fighter.
4) SFIIce = Boring.. but better than Soul Calibur  ;)
5) MK9 = A tragedy and disgrace to the superior MK 2d games.

I'd rather play that then MK vs DC  :burgerking:

my preference for MK and SF varies from day to day. I prefer the less strategic but more fun (to me) VS series, like Xmen vs Street Fighter (Dunno if those count as Street Fighter or not) but MK is fun when you're just jump kicking around not worrying about frame cancels and two in ones.
