Competition #47 is Street Fighter II - The World Warrior (World 910522)

ROMSet: sf2

DEFAULT DIP Switch Settings:

Difficulty 4 (Normal)

----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------

- One credit only.

- No continues!

- No MAME cheats!

- Last day is Wednesday July 21st (11:59:59pm Pacific Daylight Time), 2010.

- High score wins.

- No savestates, savestate practices, etc. during the round.

- MAME INP recordings are optional, but encouraged!

- A screenshot is required to enter a score (press F12 to save screenshot showing your final score) or take a photo of the screen if playing on a real machine.

- If you're a MARP competitor on this title, keep in mind this is just a friendly competition amongst forum members, so maybe you shouldn't enter. However, if you're a forum member and this is a game you're good at and nobody knows about it, this is your time to shine!

- Even if you don't have a competitive score or if you don't *think* that you have a competitive score, please post it anyway to keep the thread fun & to give everybody a good sense of score ranges.

Good luck!

I will get us started 370301 is my best score at this point. I made it to Vega before being absolutely destroyed and I perfected both bonus rounds. My score run was the only one that I made it past the fourth guy.

Tips
1. A lot of points come from the first few fights
2. Winning 2-1 earns more points than 2-0
3. The first fight after the car bonus round seems really really difficult!
4. I hate guile.

Good luck!

385,400.  Got to Vega.  Man, after years of playing Turbo, this game feels like molassas.  This comp is going to go to whoever can string the most perfect rounds together early on.

INP recorded with mame 129.  High score was on my second run through in the inp.

4. I hate guile.
I keep getting bad draws, like Guile 2nd or 3rd, which pretty much ends my run. In good news though, I can still out hadoken Ryu

FYI, if you have a 1 or something other than a zero in the single digit place, it means you used continues.

Crap! Sorry I did not realize I had used a continue on that run, occasionally I use continues when I want to work out a strategy but I don't intend to submit them(probably continued early in the run and forgot about it). Well no wonder it was my best score :dizzy:! Well retract that score. I have a 467800 now but I am not sure I want to post it without video.

I'll post it anyway and see if I can beat it and put up a video. Submitting top score only.

Edit/Update: Made it to Vega on the top run and actually perfect vega on one of the rounds before quickly losing the other two. I figured out how to beat guile and improved my game against E honda and Zangief who also give me trouble. There sure are a lot of points in the bonus rounds!

Looks like I took this one.  Disappointed I couldn't get a run beating the game on a single credit, but oh well.

For the next game, how would people feel about trying something with alternative controls?  I'll open it to a vote:

Ikari Warriors (my world record just got verified by TG for this game, would be fun one for me to run but most would struggle without rotary sticks)
Crystal Castles (could probably be played without the trackball)
Discs of Tron (at least need a spinner here I think)
Something else with traditional controls (I'm thinking Kungfu Master, Crazy Climber, or Tapper)

Midnight Resistance and Heavy Barrel use rotaries.  720 Degrees and Arkanoid have spinning things.

Of the games you've listed, my vote would be for Ikari Warriors.
