divemaster127:
You might do a little research jim, gout is very common, anyone that takes blood pressure medicine gets a build up of uric acid in their blood.  This forms crystals in your joints.  I have had it in my hands but not my feet.  This is very painful & it happens in men more than women by far. Usually after 40.  Cherry's have Flavonoids in them which breaks down uric acid & flushes it from your system.

divemaster127:
Drinking is the worst thing you can do when you have gout, the alcohol makes the inflamed tissue worse.

WTF?  Put down the wine bottle and eat a salad.

Gout - the disease of kings!

If you add up all the wine Ive drank in my life (31 years) its less then 1/2 a glass. I also eat salad about 3 times a week (mostly Caesar, usually with chicken). Gout runs in my family and Ive done the best I could to avoid food and drink that would exacerbate the condition.
