I finally had some time to work on it today.  I got the monitor mounted after 3 trips to different hardware stores in search of the right sized bolts.  I also drilled the speaker holes.  I have computer speakers which will sit behind the holes.  I also tried to dowel the top half to the bottom half but messed up one of holes so I need to fix it.

Tomorrow: Finish doweling, install door under monitor, slot cut, first coat of stain.

I haven't updated this thread in a while but I do have plenty of pictures.

Here's a few pictures of the mechanisms which lock the top half to the bottom half.  It is just doweled with a few cp clamps to hold it down.

And here it is as of today, stained with t-molding.  The control panel will be done soon and then the artwork will go on.

Very nice! I like the white t-molding on that design, it really makes the curves pop.

Get some better pictures of the stain, it's hard to see, but from the first picture it looks like it came out real nice.

Nice!  I'm liking the stained cabinets I've seen lately.  I agree with Mikey, it does look like it turned out really nice.

Not sure if I like the white T-molding yet; it's quite a sharp contrast with the dark stain.  But I won't pass judgment until it's done. :)
