New Verizon Wireless Android phone

Dartful Dodger:
I have the Droid, it's a great phone, the only complaint I have/had is that I'm left handed and it times out the screen whenever I try and dial with my right hand. I think it's assuming I'm putting the phone up to my ear.

It's trained me to hold the phone in my right hand, so this is no longer an issue for me.

If I was in the market for a new phone I'd wait for the Droid2.

I'd like to see the Droid2 compared to the Droid X.   I think each new phone is going to add a lot of value and extras.  Apple may have the market, but they also have a few years headstart.  Google is the future already.  Apple is Microsoft now.

Anybody use an iTouch (or iPhone) much along with an Android?  I've used Windows Mobile for years but have recently started carrying an iTouch along with my WM.  I really prefer the iTouch for Internet and email/calendar to the WM.  I would prefer an Android to the iPhone as a replacement for my Windows Mobile.

Just curious how the Android stacks up to Apple and if anyone has an informed opinion.

I went from Windows Mobile to a Blackberry initially and the Blackberry definitely had it positives.  That said, going from the BB to Android is like making the move from DOS to Windows XP.  I missed my touchscreen (WM) and the integration of email functionality was about the same on both.  A benefit (for me) of going to Android is that my office uses Google Apps so support on the Android is very, very good.  In fact, I selected the regular (ie less expensive) data plan via Verizon because I didnt need the enterprise version since Google Apps is supported.

I can't answer the Iphone v. Android question as I've only used a Iphone a few times.  Just throwing out another comparison that wasn't asked for.   ;D

I did buy an android phone. It is an LG Ally. 2 different Verizon locations told me to stay away from the Motorola Droid as it has some mechanical issues. The sales persons at each insisted that the Droid had touch scren issues. I bought the LG Ally. So far the only issues I have witht eh phone is battery life and I do have to do a reboot very second or third day. But from what I have read, the battery life is about the same on all Android and iPhones (8 hours of constant use) and the reboot is normal.

Damn nice phone though! Im hooked! I do wish it was a fold phone, like the EnV's are instead of a qwerty keyboard slider.  :P

Also, the Androids can be tethered to your laptop where an iPhone cant! Big selling point for me! Also, when using my wi-fi at home, the 'net is so much faster than the 3G service (as it should be).

I really wanted the HTC Incredible, but both Verizon stores and online says they wont be available until July 25th but those are already sold out and September will be the next possible issue date.
