| Ball tops or bat tops? |

I prefer the Omnistik from groovygamegear. I'm not sure what it would come under as it's kind of a mix between bat/ball top. It has the obvious ball on top but the rest of the shaft is thicker than just the steel rod...... like a bat top. I think I'd lean toward bat top if pressed but I'll stick with my omnis for now. |

Bat top and thread adapter from LizardLick working just fine. Those aluminum bat tops look very nice but I'd wonder how they feel or if they'd be too heavy for the U360 springs. |

i'm really torn on this now. i like my u360 bat tops, but i really wanted to see how they would be as balltops. if i would have bought the balltop u360, i could have easily used one of those adapters to switch it to a bat top, but it doesnt work the other way around because the battop u360 has a much thicker shaft. so after looking around and talking to Andy at Ultimarc, i started experimenting. i have a Sanwa JLW-TM-8 joystick, which is the balltop version. i took the mounting plate off and lifted the entire shaft assembly out of it, i did the same thing to one of my u360s. i moved the u360 magnet to the balltop shaft and stuck that assembly down into my u360, and now i have a balltop version. moved the thicker shaft into the JLW and now it is the battop version (JLW-UM-8). both versions of the u360 work great, i honestly can't say i like one more than the other. the only real difference i noticed is that i had installed heavier springs on my bat tops, so the balltop stick feels a little lighter. i played a few different games on my cabinet, swapping back and forth between the battop stick and the ball top stick, and i am happy either way. I talked to Andy, but i can't just buy the shaft assemblys to convert my u360s to balltops, but i could just buy a few JLW-TM-8 sticks and steal their shafts. i had another thread about matching colors across different brands, and someone suggested the seimitsu bubble top balltops, that way even though they don't match the happ button colors, they look like it is intentional..so i'm just waiting to see how that would look. |
