Where to find a Defender Cocktail Harness?!
« on: June 27, 2010, 03:41:04 pm »
This is the last thing I need to get my machine running, but I can't find one online anywhere!! Apparently the Cocktail harnesses are different from the regular, so they're very hard to find.

Does anyone know where I can find one? *If not, does anyone know how I can make one myself?

Thanks.

They are going to be pretty hard to find -- the Williams cocktails were pretty rare and too often converted for my liking.

You might try dokert on KLOV and see if he will build one for you.

After that, grab the wiring diagram and your boards and build one. The only hard part is making sure you get all the right connectors (which suck horribly on Williams games ... which reminds me that you might want to replace the headers at the same time). From there it is making sure that you have sufficient lengths and suffering through the crimping.

I asked Docket about making me a harness and he said he might be able to make me one, but I'd have to wait.  It's been about 2 months and I still haven't heard anything from him.

I wouldn't even know where to look for the connectors. I would of tried making my own long ago if I knew where to find the parts.  You think you could point me in the right direction?

I'm on my way out right now, but Ken Layton had a good thread on KLOV about getting connectors from DigiKey (Molex KK .156, IIRC). Can't find it just now.

There is some discussion of connectors in this Williams2JAMMA document if that helps.

Thanks, I think I found it here:

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=76742&highlight=digikey

But I still am not sure which connectors to buy.  I've found some that look kind of like the connectors I need, but I'm not sure which one to get.

I guess I've have to try and find the measurements for everything and see which one's match up.  If I decide to go this route, what kind of wire should I use?

Use the same wires as a JAMMA harness since it is the standard.

All Power wires use 18AWG wiring / All other wiring uses 22AWG
