« on: March 02, 2017, 12:34:56 am »
I Have a DE simpsons cabinet (1990) thats been gutted, I'm tracking down parts lockdown bars, and receivers and coin doors . and flipper buttons.
the original had 1" flipper buttons but all i can locate in north america is 1-1/8"  does anybody out there there know if it there is any significant difference" can I just use 1-1/8" buttons?

thanks

According to page 32 of the manual here, the Flipper Button (Item 2) P/N is 500-5026-18.

500-5026 series buttons are 1-1/8".

I did order the 1-1/8" buttons even though I'm still not convinced.

That part number which I found is not listed here  http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=1692

And then I found this here.
https://www.flippersloop.nl/en_GB/a-38485823/buttons/flipper-button-1-white-new/

Anyway I'm assuming that if the extra 1/8" is a problem I can just shim it with a washer or something. I'll post here afterwards for future reference .

Turns out that the button size isn't as important as the leaf switch.  I ordered leaf switches for 1-3/8 buttons.  Should have ordered 1-3/8 buttons

For the purpose of a virtual pin setup it is important to note that an arcade control panel button would not fit because of plunger clearance. I took a 1/4" thick piece of basswood and a small strip of cardboard because of it's flexibility to get just the right clearance on the button and a solid contact on the switch.  A quick fix but it gets the job done.  If I had ordered leaf switches for 1-1/8" instead of the wrong leaf switches (1-3/8) I wouldn't have been doing this quick fix.

Hope this might help anybody else looking to replace flipper buttons on a DE cabinet or convert one to vpin
