Game suggestion needed: Peaceful, predictable, fast-paced arcade game?
krutknut:
I need some examples of peaceful, predictable, and fast-paced arcade games.
Peaceful: Nobody dies, not even a fluffy pet or a vegetable.
Predictable: Things unfold in the same way each time the game plays, for instance items show up and enter the screen at the same place and same time each play.
Fast-paced: The game moves on all the time, you have to act all the time to win.
I have one good example of a violent arcade game that fits the two last criteria (predictable, fast paced), but is not peaceful: 1943 the battle of midway.
What are your arcade favourites that are both peaceful, predictable, and fast-paced?
Howard_Casto:
Well that's certainly an odd-ball question.
You've just described tetris and virtually any puzzle game.

Smash TV ;)
Seriously, though. The "nobody dies" restriction is a bit ambiguous. For instance, Targ and spectar are both maze games where you shoot little abstract pixelated ships. If they're robots, then nobody dies. Except of course if you're also talking about the player himself, which can get "nabbed" so to speak.
Pacman? He shrivels if caught.
I think Howard's right. Majong and puzzle games are about it, and maybe some of the sports games like track and field.

You just die a little inside each time you play it. Fun for the whole family.
