more info:

Q: Is it possible to have portions of your image to be transparent allowing the color of the laminate to show through?

A: Depending on the background color, digital imaging may or may not work.  We print on overlay which is then laid up on top of one of our base papers.  In all cases, if the background color is medium to dark in range, the digital overlay will cause it to become cloudy and murky in appearance.  It won't be clean like it looks in a standard laminate, because of the extra overlay involved.

If you were to print say a circle in red or yellow or really any color and then press it on top of a Nebula pattern or a Maple woodgrain, you would get the design of the base paper coming through the print.  The only way you wouldn't see transfer through the print, is if the background is white.

<TrickyFishy>So basically to get your artwork to reproduce 100% choose a white laminate and have your artwork dictate all the color</TrickyFishy>

Q: Is there a minimum purchase / minimum size requirement?

A: No minimum purchase requirement, the minimum sheet size is 3'x8'.

see tho, thats really not bad. just get white laminate and cover enough of it that it doesn't look plain, like the robotron cab...

Frostillicus:

This has potential - so theoretically I would only need say one large 3x8 sheet printed, which will have both pieces of sideart for my cab on it.   that'd be $240 before tax or shipping.  I wonder how durable it is...would it scratch if it was control panel overlay material?  Could look better than plexi if the printing process is good...

Brax:

They say on their website that it has the same durability that their normal laminate has. The only difference is that it's slightly more brittle before installation.

They have examples of resturants using it for their tabletops. It can't get much more of a workout than that.

TrickyFishy:

I agree.  I don't think you can get a better / stronger finish than laminate without resorting to stone!
