I was walking by a trash can and found sitting on top was a Linksys WRT-54g it was missing a power supply. I found one and booted it up it seemed to work, I installed DD-WRT firmware. It has been running for 6hrs non-stop wireless and wired have been transferring files back and forth with no problems. I like how with DD-WRT I can turn off the WIFI.

My speed test:

My old router NEVER got over 10Mb/s a sec.

Q*Bert_OP:
How do you *easily* install DD-WRT? I need to install that software on mine so I can connect my Revenge from Mars pin to the tournament network.

Edgedamage:
I looked at my model number and the hardware revision. I downloaded the matching .bin file
http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

and in the router setup page I hit update firmware and pointed to the ,bin file and a couple min later it was installed and running. You could easily spend a hour going over the new features and settings.

SavannahLion:
Woah, when did DD-WRT start requiring activation? Wasn't this an open source project?

I never had to activate anything.  Edit, I see they seem to have professional software that needs activation.
