Identify This Cab?
« on: May 18, 2010, 03:32:39 pm »
Hi All, My first post.

I bought what i thought was a factory KI cab, my first purchase.

However after i have noticed some differences, such as the curved sides, coin doors and artwork not running to the edge. im prietty gutted but it was only £150 so all not lost.

i thought maybe it was a UK version as i have seen MKII cabs in this style, im in the UK btw

thanks for the help

I have no idea what this cab may have been in a previous life, sorry.  You may want to take some different pics though.  I would recommend getting full exterior cab shots, instead of close ups of the monitor and the cab top from the inside???  Try to get from the top to the bottom from both sides (with the top side up, I was getting sea sick from going left to right to left to ...) and a full front shot too.

Congrats on the nice find though.  I wanted KI cab with the art work intact but had to settle for a NFL Blitz / NBA Showtime instead. :'(

yeh sorry about that,  ill take some better ones when i have room

i only took shots of the right side as the other had no artwork. the artwork you can see is damaged. i want to restore the entire cab however since its not factory im not sure if i should find a proper midway cab.

i have the option of a war gods cab pretty cheap which is a proper midway cab. i feel if im doing a full restore it should be authentic.

+1000

If you are in the UK, then all bets are off regarding "factory" cabs -- most of the time you didn't get the same cabs that folks in North America got.

For future reference, try using the img tag when posting pictures (after you rotate them, of course!)

with you on the pix. im really sorry to all but its my mac. it auto rotates all pictures, somehow it knows what way up they are, however when i upload them they are normal, somehow even if i open them in photoshop they are the right way up.

I have had to rotate them save them, rotate back and save again to get right - bloody annoying but done now.

what would you guys suggest from an authenticity point of view, trying to keep as faithful to the original as possible? hold out for a 'known' midway cab to do a restore on, or go with what it comes in, taking into consideration that this cab i have needs sanding / filling and new art work (there is no art work on the left side).

It's complete enough that if you bought it for KI, I would keep it as KI and just clean it up.
