| Neo geo, any difference between console cartridge to arcade cartridge? |

Hey guys, I am running maximus arcade and I know you can have a separate section for Neo Geo in the home systems. My general question, if I have the complete mame romset (including Neo Geo roms), is there any reason to run the emulator for the "home system"? Are the home system roms the exact same as the ones mame/arcade runs? I didn't know if the home systems ran any games the arcade neo geo wouldn't run or something. Probably a dumb question, but thanks for the help. |

There's some minor difference like options screens or some soft dip settings, but having both I prefer the arcade versions. |

This is probably something more specif to Maximus and you may want to ask there. (as a "Home System" isn't related to MAME in anyway). But ... I do know that many NEO-GEO games run a bit slow when using MAME emulation (ie. Metal Slug series). There are NEO-GEO specific emulators that will run them more smoothly/correctly (if comparing with an actual Neo-GEo cab. Can Maximus support those? Or which can they support? I'd head over to the Maximus forum to answer that one. |

What I am trying to say is, are the games on a neo geo console any different whatsoever to the neo geo arcade system? That's pretty much my point. Not really about maximus arcade. I probably should have left that out of the talk. Yes, Maximus supports winkawaks and mame being two of them. I guess I just didn't understand if the game cartridges were literally the exact same thing from arcade to neo geo console. |

The MVS behave like arcade games and thus you can usually buy [credit] your way through the games. The AES behave like console games and thus you usually have limited continues. The game play is generally the same. |
