Jtag Xbox 360. Greatest thing to happen for MAME Cab?
Usul:
Hm, I am actually using the 360 mainly for modern driving games. Never thought of being able to play old-school (driving) games via Mame on it. So I will give this a shot.

Ya the older Xbox360 had a lot of issues; the CD drives would break down the Xbox fan sounded like you had your Vacuum cleaner turned on. I am not sure when but I know the 2009 models they fixed all those issues. They replaced the CD drive the fan is quiet as a mouse. The even added other features like built in hard drive for game saves. Unfortunately you can not buy a brand new Xbox360 and do a Jtag hack. Microsoft found out about it and with the new dashboard update there is no crack for it yet.

As you've mentioned, the problem with Jtag is that you actually need an older xbox, because the hack requires lower version of dashboard and all new xboxs come with newer ver, so you will be stuck with the unreliable hardware.
Also Jtag hack is really hard to pull off, but once you do, it's really sweet. Basically Jtag is the holly grail of xbox 360 hacking

I thought of the same thing! But then I realized all the trouble I would have to go through to fine the right xbox 360, get someone to hack it, download more games, etc etc...
I currently have ps2 and dreamcast on my system.. an my current issue is choosing between setting up the joysticks to be the control pad or analog stick... there is always a game that uses the control pad instead of the analog stick or only the analog stick and uses the control pad for other functions. Soooo.. you'd either have to choose to have only xbox 360 games that support analog or the control pad.. or I guess you could eliminate playe 2 and use your second joy..
But yeah, this looks really nice. I think i'll do it once it gets easier and then I'll figure out how to integrate it into my cp.
Shecky:
My original 360's dvd went out. I then bought an arcade version 360 and held onto my broken one in hope of a hack. About a month after the hack came out I did my research and tried it out. Out of all my previous mods/hacks this one is by far the hardest. I got it to boot up in freeBOOT twice and then Red rings after that. I tried to re-dump the image but nothing. I think my original dump was corrupt and I never got the correct cpu key. So out of anger and burning my fingers 10+ times I ripped out all the wires. I still have my broken 360 and I need to dive back into the scene because I hope they have made it a bit easier. I also dump my original cpu key twice so hopefully they have come up with a way to get a good key from the bad dumps.
I am sure it's a bit easier now, but it sure kicked my cuss. For all your xbox hacking news go here. www.xbox-scene.com
