Just a heads up.... Romero's Survival of the Dead on hdnet this month.

rlemmon:
I love zombie movies ! I recently bought dawn, day and land an ebay for 11.00 new. (it was time to through out the vhs cpoys) I would have to say that IMO Romero has lost his edge. I felt that there was a good progression from night through land. Diary just felt like a rippoff of his own wok. The characters were dull and it just didn't keep my intrest.  Another problem for were the unspecial effects. Tom savini's makeup and effects were a very big part of what made the dead films so great. (and were pretty much ground breaking at the time) Land was missing a bit but was handeled pretty well by knb effects.

The final nail in its coffin were the bad cg effects. I cringed evertime i saw a cg blood spurt. All that being said
I will still see it but my hopes are pretty low.

Speaking of zombie movies return of the living dead is at the top of my list. I have seen it more times than i can count. To bad the sequels were so terrible. I Also really liked the dawn remake. To bad thy didn't make a worthy follow up to it.  :afro:

Then you haven't watched enough of them.

--- Quote ---Horrible acting?  No problem!  The cast will be mostly eaten by the end!

Yes, but in the classic Romero films, I at least cared about the cast.

--- Quote ---Bad plot?  Impossible!  Zombies eating people is all the plot you need.

But what about when there are barely any zombies?

--- Quote ---Anyone who critiques zombie movies to the point to where they say some are "bad" must totally miss the point of a zombie movie.

Bad = Survival of the Dead, which has horrible CGI, a terrible cast of characters, a plot that plays more like a western than a zombie film, and SPOILER:a zombie eating a ---smurfing--- horse.

A zombie movie can't suck?! HUH?  :dizzy:

Diary of the Dead was CRAP. It reminded me of one of those made-for-SyFy-channel type movies / direct to video store releases.

Speaking of, anyone seen Undead or Alive ? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0795505/

It's also barely above "made for tv" quality but I got some chuckles out of it. Not too many zombie western comedies out there.

AtomSmasher:
You should check out the movie Doomed.  The only reason I know about it is because my Uncle is in it.  The plot is they put a bunch of convicts on an island for a gameshow, and the one to get to a certain point first wins their freedom.... the twist is that the island is full of ZOMBIES!!11!1
It's quite bad.

TOK:
There is a Norwegian zombie movie from last year called Dead Snow... The catch is that the zombies are also Nazi's.
Its subtitled in English, but not very hard to follow. This is a good cheesy one, with a few surprises.

It was available for streaming on Netflix a month or so ago, not sure if its still available instantly.
