As above, check to make sure the hiscore.dat file is in the directory. Also, what game are you trying to save the scores for? Not all games save in the same way. At a stretch, how are you exiting mame? I believe some frontends (or exiting strategies) don't neccessarily close MAME in such a way as the score is saved. |

Just download pre-compiled Mame 1.33 and hiscore.dat and source code from the link below. Load these onto you computer and you'll be off and running - all the hard work is done for you already: http://www.mameworld.info/highscore/ |

I have the dat file in there now. But now when I go to run MAMEUI.exe it keeps saying "cannot allocate icon list" ?? |

I think I'm just not gonna even bother with the highscore.dat and diff files. From what I've read, they were removed for a reason and replaced with save state. Which I think to keep my scores saved I'll just go with save states :/ Only reason is, if you think about it, most arcade machines unless they had a built in feature, didn't save scores when you unplugged them. And basically when you leave mame, it's like you're unplugging the arcade =/ So... I'll just go save states :P |
